29 August 2008 Interview with Lauren Gunn......

Lauren Gunn, a director of the Stephen Marr Creative team, talks to us about where Lonely Hearts are taking their hair this season, as well as, letting us in on all the new shapes and styles you need to have this summer!

So, can you give us any clues on what inspired the hair styling for Lonely Hearts' Autumn/Winter collection? Lonely Hearts are concentrating on creating a 'tough girl' persona to match their collection. The hair is being kept long, really 'undone' and rough. Think wrong side of the tracks, girls that hang out in packs. A really tough girl but not androgynous, she still keeps her feminity which makes her really captivating. | And how do you come up with these kind of concepts for the hair styling? All our styling is based on briefs that come directly from the designers. So they may send us pictures of people they've referenced that convey the vibe of their collection - actors, musicians, political figures, their friends - whoever really. Then there may be film references, photographs or images they've seen that relate; objects, a state of mind - anything descriptive that helps me get a visual reference to start from, that we then take and make individual and unique for that particular designer. | So, looking to summer, what shapes and styles should we looking out for? This summer, hair cuts are going to be really undone, sharper shapes are disappearing. We'll be looking at texture, especially through the ends, that looks more worn-in than 'engineered'- this will create a softness around the face. Long hair with centreparts & no fringe are going to be major trends. Shapes are going to be softer, think really easily maintained hair that still looks great after a couple of days at the beach. Washed out two-tone colours - darker at the roots and subtley lighter at the ends will look great with a really beautiful, soft, low maintenance cut.|

27 August 2008 Interview with Adelle Rodda from Stephen Marr

Top stylist & Creative Director for the likes of Jaehe and Cybele, Adelle sits down with us to talk about this season's hot colour trends & what inspired the designer's hair looks this season......

Is there an overall trend coming through from all of the shows you're working on? The designers we work with are all so varied in their aesthetic and so original with their concepts, so no - the only thing i could say they have in common this season is most of the shows will feature long hair in some form. Plaiting as well - all different types, will be worked into a few designers collections | You're working with Cybele & Jaeha this season - what can we expect to see from them this season on the catwalk? Cybele's brief this season fixates on sheen & iridescence, so we're taking two contrasting ways: the hair will be really slick and polished but feature equally, some old-school waves & textured ends. For Jaeha, think 'Albino Goth', meaning dramatically long, bright blonde hair - more of a ghostlike, hyper-real quality rather than a 'pretty', delicate girl. | This all sounds quite intriguing - can't wait to see the shows! What can you tell us about colours for summer: what's hot for blondes and brunettes coming into the warmer months? For the summer months we're going to be opting for more iridescent, glossy vintage colours, not so 'blocky' and streaky looking, we'll be free-handing a lot of colour. Overall, for both blondes and brunettes we want to make colour looked more 'lived-in' rather than that hyper-fresh, just-walked-out-of-a-salon, bright colour. More washed-out tones (for blondes) in watercolours like dusty rose & peach look amazing and really cute. Brunettes should be asking for antique coppers & burnished reds to warm the skin tone but not overpower it. Colours are becoming more individual but not bolder, think more subtle and 'lived' in, to add to someone's personality rather than overpower it. |

Miss Crabb on the Catwalk

St Matthew’s in the City played host to Miss Crabb’s latest show - evoking the spirit of Midwest-gothic and the Shotgun Wedding. Black eyeliner and big hair from the stephen marr crew were a dramatic foil for the pale silks and delicate florals of the spring/summer collection from Miss Crabb.
