25 September 2009 Karen Walker Show | Hair & Make-up

The beauty of youth always provides the centre of gravity for Karen Walker shows, as well as the coolest hats this side of the equator. Glowing skin was called for and model faces were prepped with mini facials from Lucy and the Powderroom then sweetly colored with powder-pink cheeks and coral lips, hair was blown out smooth and clean keeping a floaty volume through the top and drawn from a centre part over the ears into a low ponytail at the base of the nape.

23 September 2009 Kate Sylvester Show | Hair & Make-up

In an ode to Judith Baragwanath, conspicuously unfashionable Auckland scandalizer, Kate Sylvester sent out a collection with a masculine bent and cross gender dressing. Makeup featured the trademark Baragwanath black lip and hair was scrapped back and dewey, mimicking the look of morning hair that still carries the residue of the night before. To get this look mix Sebastian Matte Paste and Taming Elixir together in the palm of your hand and rake your fingers through your hair, secure it with a couple of tortoise shell slides low at the back, and finish off with a generous spray of Sebastian Halo Mist shine spray all through the ends.

Lonely Hearts

A little bit of delving by the Lonely Hearts crew into cave-dwelling American cults has underpinned the feeling for their autumn winter 2010 collection. The idea is represented in the hair with a very anti-glamour finish. Unkempt, unbrushed and unselfconscious. Straying from the conventional path Lonely Hearts have chosen to present their work in video installation in direct contrast with the technophobic tendency of religious cults.
